Pekerjaan Chef de Partie bukan merupakan posisi entry-level, dan dapat diperoleh hanya setelah koki telah memperoleh pengalaman yang cukup bekerja di dapur pada tingkat yang lebih rendah. Ini adalah pekerjaan penting di dapur apapun yang datang dengan banyak kewenangan

Seorang Chef de Partie bertanggung jawab untuk semua hidangan kuliner yang disiapkan di bagian mereka. Karena itu, seorang chef de partie sukses harus sangat berpengetahuan tentang nya khusus, serta fungsi kuliner pada umumnya. Seseorang dalam peran ini juga harus sangat teratur dan nyaman bekerja dalam lingkungan tekanan tinggi. Seorang chef de partie juga harus mampu memberikan perintah dalam bagian mereka, serta andal melaksanakan perintah diturunkan kepada mereka oleh sous chef dan koki kepala.
