Media Advisor | Ministerial Correspondence
This well known government agency is driving tourism and major events for Sydney and Regional NSW. They will require an experienced Media & Communications professional on a 12 month basis as this is to cover somebody on maternity leave.
This is a fairly broad role including corporate communications, events management/launches, working with ministers office and dealing with media issues.
Key responsibilities will include:
Develop and coordinate Ministerial and Government media launches, events and communication requirements, including preparing Event Briefs, speaking notes, key messages, media releases and parliamentary briefing materials, etc.
Media management: -
- Liaise with media on a daily basis, including coordinating media enquiries, interview requests, issues management and drafting media responses
- Daily media monitoring, including coordinating and distributing internal media bulletins
- Develop and maintain media contact lists.
Coordinate the development of audio visual components for media launches, including video news reels, still photography and B-rolls, with external contractors.
Develop Ministerial and corporate communication key messages for approval, ensuring they are consistent with NSW Government and key stakeholder messages
In order to be successful in this role, you will need the following:
Tertiary qualification in Communications or other relevant field
Sound understanding of Government processes, with an established network of media contacts and the ability to quickly develop beneficial working relationships with government, industry and media representatives.
Proven record of achievement in developing and implementing media, corporate communications and events strategies and plans,
Significant experience in a corporate communications role, preferably in a tourism, events or government environment.
Superior written, analytical and interpersonal skills, including proven ability to write effective media releases, speeches and speech notes, publications and online communication products.
Superior event launch and event management experience.
Superior judgment, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
